Appearances Provincetown
Green Arts Festival, April 20−29, 2012
International Ecocentric Arts Festival

Appearances is a "Green Arts Festival", bringing awareness to the Provincetown community and visitors of the majesty and fragility of our environment, as well as showing the strengths of the naturally occurring energies that can be harnessed—such as wind, sun and water—by creating kinetic artworks, recyclable artworks and works that will be transformed by the elements during the duration of the event, as well as ecocentric works from other artistic disciplines such as painting, photography, poetry, readings, short films and performance art exhibited or performed at sites throughout Provincetown. Outdoor sculpture/installation submissions are strongly encouraged and will be displayed on Provincetown Conservation Trust sites and other settings.

The trust is seeking artists who would like to participate (group projects are encouraged) in creating works of art that will "appear" in and around Provincetown, to coincide with the return of spring. Spring is marked here not only by the warming of the sun, budding of plant life and returning migratory birds, but also by the return of sea animals, most notably the hundreds of Humpback, Right and other whales who arrive in the region in late March.
