Workshop Description: 
Are you wrestling with the lack of texture and REAL type in your everyday pursuits? Then this letterpress workshop is the event for you. You’ll hand-set text and display type, contending with over 350 cases of metal and wood type in our collection. Once you’ve learned the ropes, leap from the turnbuckle and get ready for the melee—it’s no-holds-barred letterpress posters! Learn how to quickly change colors on press with no wash-up. Set it and print it techniques escape the referee’s call on “delay of match.” Grapple with composition and win with magnets. Concealing your identity is optional.
Who Should Attend?
Any MassArt Alumni who yearn to bring a little texture back into their lives with ink, paper and type. 
Schedule 
    Round 1 10:00 AM Be prompt and ready to get started. We’ll get right into it! We’ll set some impactful words from impressive type and construct our Ringside Broadside. 
    Intermission  11:30 AM Lunch. There won’t be time to venture far in search of sustinence so please bring your own lunch. 
    Round 2 12:30 PM Letterpress Posters. We’ll learn some quick techniques for printing larger type and making impromptu images using “pressure prints.” 
    Aftermath 3:30 PM Cleanup and redistribution of type.  
 
Some Fine Print
In this workshop we use inks and solvents and expect that participants are comfortable lifting 50 lbs. without assistance. Due to working space and equipment, this class is limited to 10-12 students. Time will be precious. Punctuality will be required to make full use of the time allotted. Once all the slots have been filled, we will begin a waiting list.
