DESCRIPTION:BE DELIGHTEDMassArt's 23rd Annual Benefit Art Auction Saturday, April 14, 2012 Preview Auction Artwork at www.massartauction.org Each spring, MassArt's Annual Benefit Art Auction draws a crowd of over 600 collectors and art enthusiasts seeking to view and purchase exceptional contemporary art in a festive environment.Over 300 works of art will be included in a live and silent auction in the Bakalar and Paine Galleries, two contiguous spaces that are home to various cutting-edge, museum-quality exhibitions at MassArt throughout the year. Serious connoisseurs will be focused on the 38 pieces offered in the live auction but the opportunity to wander through unexplored territory &ndash; ceramics, glass, jewelry, paintings, photography, sculpture, and works on paper - continues throughout the evening in the silent auction. The MassArt Auction has truly become one of Boston's rites of spring, and 2012 promises to be the best yet, showcasing artists both established and new.  Among the nationally and internationally known artists, emerging artists, MassArt alumni, faculty, and students represented in this year's auction are:Nicole Chesney '97, Lalla Essaydi, Robert Freeman, Wolf Kahn, Alex Katz, Steve Locke '97, Abe Morell, Julian Opie, Kelly Sherman '02, Kara Walker, William Wegman '65, and Rachel Perry Welty.  Whether you are a passionate and seasoned connoisseur or a new collector, the auction has something for every taste and budget, and we're certain you'll find something wonderful to take home.
